What makes a child vulnerable to predators?

ANY child who is unguarded and unprotected is made vulnerable to sexual predators - online or in their own circles of trust. 35% of reported cases of child sexual abuse involve children under 11. 65% are children 12-18. Children are most vulnerable when they are unguarded, abandoned, neglected, isolated, or uninformed.

Teach body safety early.

Children as young as infants are being sexually abused in America. For that reason, teach body safety early. Talking openly about sex, private body parts, and appropriate/safe boundaries with other children and adults, early on, will empower children to speak up when someon behaves towards them in an inappropriate way.

Minimize the opportunity.

Create a family lifestyle that minimizes access to your children - iProtect children by guarding their well being - both physically and emotionally. Put safeguards around screen time and online access. Be a trusted and safe adult, and take care to ensure anyone who has access to your child is a trusted and safe adult.

Be a safe adult for children by being trustworthy. Model safe behavior by  setting healthy personal boundaries in the home and among family and friends.
